However, with regular wear, a hand tied wig will inevitably get dirty. How to clean a hand tied wig properly—so it’s clean without sustaining damage? Useful Tip for Brushing Long Hand Tied Wigs
When brushing a long hand tied wig, section it off and brush from the bottom up. Take your time and be gentle throughout the process. A small amount of hair loss is normal when styling or wearing a hand tied wig.
- Never Wash with a Washing Machine
The strong spin cycle of a washing machine can lead to excessive shedding or even completely ruin a hand tied wig.
- Use Warm Water for Washing
Before washing, soak the hand tied wig in warm water (ideally 15–30 degrees Celsius) for around 5 minutes. Water that’s too hot will shorten the lifespan of a hand tied wig.
- Air-Dry Naturally
After washing, do not spin-dry it in a washing machine, blow-dry it with a hair dryer, or leave it in direct sunlight. Instead, gently pat it with a dry towel to soak up excess water, then let it air-dry naturally.
